St. Cletus was named One of the Top 3 Best Private Schools in the Suburban Journals “Best of St. Charles County!”
The seven doves in our school’s emblem represent the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit:
Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel (Right Judgment), Fortitude (Courage), Knowledge, Piety, and Fear of the Lord (Wonder and Awe).
St. Cletus is a Catholic, coeducational, Pre K – 8 school which was founded in 1967. It is accredited by the Missouri Chapter of the National Federation of Non-Public School State Accreditation Association. We provide an atmosphere of love and respect based on the teachings of Jesus Christ, and we strive to motivate, challenge and develop each child to reach his or her fullest potential academically, socially and spiritually.
The pre-school, primary and middle schools are located on one campus, with the middle school students acting as role models for the younger children. Kindergartners are assigned to an “8th Grade Buddy” who helps familiarize them with the school, helps them at lunch and sits with them during school masses.
St. Cletus has been enjoying the benefits of the extended calendar since 2002. Classes begin in early August and end during the first week of June. The shorter summer break helps eliminate summer loss and results in greater retention of curriculum and skills from school year to school year. The calendar also includes two week intercessions in the fall and spring in addition to the Christmas break and other traditional holidays. Student achievement and scores on standardized tests have improved with the introduction of the extended calendar.
St. Cletus has an internet-based communication system called FastDirect, through which teachers and parents communicate. Teachers post homework on their online “bulletin boards” by 6:00 p.m. daily and post student’s grades by the first and third Monday of every month. Student report cards are posted on FastDirect at the end of each semester. Parents must create a user name and password and sign in to access FastDirect. However, students may access the bulletin boards and cafeteria menus without having to sign in. All users have access to the system anywhere they have access to the Internet. There is no software to download or install.
On Thursday of every week, letters, forms and other important documents from the principal, staff and school organizations are sent home in a large manila envelope with the oldest child enrolled at the school. Additional printed and/or written communication is sent home on a day-by-day basis by each child’s teacher.
