Music Ministry
The music ministry of St. Cletus Parish enhances our liturgies through leading our community of worshipers into deeper relationships with God and each other through inspiring and powerful music. God gave us the gift of music, and He is pleased when we give it back to Him through worship, whether be it from the pews or the choir loft. We strive to create a house where every person has a chance to fully engage in worship of Almighty God, so that we can truly fulfill His word- “Let all things that have breath sing Praise to our God” (Psalm 150:6)
9:30 Mass Choir (Chorale) The St. Cletus Chorale is a choir of men’s and women’s voices and sings for Masses on Sundays at 9:30AM as well as many special holidays and liturgies throughout the year. The choir sings a diversity of repertoire, including traditional and contemporary worship music, classical music by composers such as Bach, Handel, Bruckner, as well as living composers, spirituals, and even occasionally music from the chant tradition. The choir is open to anyone high school aged or older, and rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings at 7PM in the church from September to May. Prior experience and music reading ability is a help, but not required- we will teach you what you will need to know. All you need to bring is a love of music and a willing attitude to learn. Contact the music director for more information, or drop by a rehearsal and hear for yourself! 7:30 Mass Musicians The 7:30 Mass Musicians is a group of individual cantors and instrumentalists that emphasizes sung worship and leads the music for Masses on Sundays at 7:30am, as well as other holidays throughout the year. Prior experience and music reading ability is a help, but not required. The ensemble is open to anyone high school aged or older and rehearses immediately before the Mass. 11:30 Mass Ensemble (Life Teen) This is group of musicians and singers who help lead our Life Teen Masses at 11:30 am on Sundays. They play music that is praise and worship centered and patterned after musicians like Adam Bitter, Matt Maher and Chris Tomlin. Instruments that are used include piano/keyboard, acoustic and electric guitar, violin, drums/percussion and bass. They rehearse 45 minutes before the Mass starts on Sunday mornings. 5:00 pm Saturday Vigil Musicians The ensemble that leads the music at the Saturday Vigil Mass is made of up vocalists and instrumentalists from High School age and up. They use the same music at the 7:30 and 9:30 Sunday Masses and is presented in a very prayerful and inspiring way. St. Cletus Children’s Choir The St. Cletus Children’s Choir helps to lead the music at the school Masses (typically on Friday mornings) and other school celebrations throughout the year. The Choir is made up of 3rd through 8th graders and they rehearse before the school Mass.
